Student Welfare

STUDENT WELFARE

Moama Public School has a strong Student Welfare Policy. Its strength lies in the belief that every student is an individual capable of growing into a true citizen within the commumity.

At the heart of all school activity and policy is student welfare - it embraces every aspect of schooling for every student. This involves recognising, valuing and developing each student as a unique person who has needs which must be considered, catered for and developed.

Our aim is to create a safe, secure and harmonious environment in which there are clear expectations of the need for quality work, pleasant behaviour and friendly relationships. Within this environment children are encouraged to uphold values.

The student welfare program aims to develop self-discipline and leadership skills through the Peer Support program, decision making through Positive Behaviour for Learning and self-esteem through the school awards program.

The school has three basic school values:

  • RESPECT
  • RESPONSIBILITY
  • ACHIEVEMENT

Students who display these qualities at school are awarded certificates in class weekly and in and in assembly throughout the year.

Everyone has the right:

  • To learn in a pleasant and positive atmosphere
  • To teach and carry out their duties in a calm and pleasant environment
  • To be treated with respect
  • To have their property treated with respect
  • To work and play safely in a clean, healthy environment.

To assist in the welfare of all students the school has implemented two quality programs which aim to encourage respect between students - Peer Support and the Buddy Program.
